The Ant and The Grasshopper (2020)

The ant worked hard all last summer,
Storing food for the winter away.
So that he would have some provisions
To eat on those cold winter days.

The grasshopper he saw things different,
Thought the ant was a rube and a fool.
With the weather so nice and sunny
He preferred to lounge by the pool.

Sure enough one day it turned winter.
But the ant had planned far ahead.
Safe and warm in his ant hill he flourished,
While the grasshopper, well, he’s near dead.

CNN came to cover the story
And they broadcast the grasshopper’s fate.
They admonished the ants for his treasures,
And the food he had there on his plate.

Al Sharpton jumped into the action,
Demanding the poor ant pay up.
“He got rich on the back of the hoppers,
And now he has more than enough!”

Politicians soon heard the story
And desperate to get hopper votes,
They raided the ants little warehouse
And taxed away half of his oats.

Ant’s oats helped the hopper through winter,
Come summer hop’s back by the pool.
Content that the government saved him,
Getting food from the ant is now cool.

Politicians and hoppers take notice,
Next winter when snow hits the ground.
This movable feast may have vanished,
Cause all of the ants have left town.
