Points Of Light

The desert sky fell silent,
As two lovers lie tangled in dreams.
The plans and the schemes of tomorrow,
Were postponed for far better things.

As their warm breath commingled about them,
The moon on the sand dune slipped low.
With their bodies entwined ever tighter,
Their lips touched in sweet afterglow.

Are the stars in the sky really beacons,
Or just points of light cast astray?
Do our hearts really beat as one person,
Or is passion the cosmos at play?

When we wake in the cold light of morning,
Will our souls merge as one with the dawn?
Or will we, like the stars of the evening,
Just fade with the sun and be gone?
